I'm Kassandra, a self-taught cook and aspiring author. I've spent the last nine or so years of my life learning how to cook everything, from French boeuf bourguignon to Mexican tacos de carnitas and Korean bo-ssam. More importantly, I've learned about the histories and contexts in which these dishes were formed, and the complex environments in which we eat these dishes, knowledge which I hope will enrich your dining experiences. Because after all, a rich bowl of ramen is delicious and all, but isn't it fascinating to know more about its (somewhat) illegal history? Or perhaps, you might've wondered the reason why so many Chinese dishes have such strange English translations, like "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall." Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. But whether or not you care, I hope to leave you with a dining experience, catered by me, a little more learned, and a little more happily full.
